Necromatch

They came from beyond the stars to bring peace and prosperity to our planet, or so they claimed. Now a hundred years later and mankind is on its knees, serving those to whom it had once offered sanctuary oh so long ago.

The dwindling human population are kept in conditions of near slavery, being fed a tasty food substitute laced with neural tranquilisers to subdue them and keep them passive and happy. This constantly forced internalised anger does occasionally explode and there have been a number of violent riots that have broken out that have been quickly and brutally put down by the authorities.

In order to quell these rage induced attacks the aliens introduced regular televised bouts of Necromatch, an ultra-violent sport where only the toughest and most brutal teams survive. Watching Necromatch, or indeed attending if lucky enough to win tickets in the weekly lottery, creates an outlet for the build up of destructive rage caused by the ingested pacifier.

Not everyone is susceptible to the drugs however and those who still have free thought have formed a resistance movement which continues to seek ways to break the hold of the alien dominators of mankind. Those resistance members who are captured by the authorities are forced to take part in Necromatch, making it both both punishment and warning to those thinking of joining the resistance.

Necromatch is based on 70’s sci-fi movies such as Rollerball, Solent Green, and Logan’s Run, as well as TV shows such as UFO and Space 1999.

What do you think about that?
