The Last Days of the Empire

London, 1967. The Empire Club in Soho was once the place to be seen. The décor was glamorous, the dancers gorgeous and the atmosphere electric. The fact that it was owned by the Goldman brothers, London’s most notorious gangsters, just added to its reputation.

Now times have turned hard. The glamour has turned to seediness, and the clientèle are going elsewhere. Money from the pornography and vice rackets is drying up in the face of competition and crackdowns. Policemen are beginning to buzz around the club like flies around a corpse, and the presence of a lunatic strangling tarts in Soho looks like the final nail in the coffin. If the Goldman gang is to survive, they have a hell of a fight ahead of them.

What do you think about that?
