Britannia is a land of petty kings and warlords, squabbling in the void left after the withdrawal of Rome. The light of civilisation is fading as a Dark Age descends amidst the chaos of the rapacious Angle and Saxon invaders.
One tiny oasis, preserving some of the ways of old Rome, is the city of Lindum, which has so far remained independent and largely at peace by selective hiring of mercenaries and bribery of would-be invaders. Now, however, as it is menaced by the Angle hordes, the city’s treasury has been robbed, and its defenders are deserting it. Can Lindum be saved?
