You are a team of rock hoppers – inhabitants of the asteroid belt, trying to make a living off harvesting small, uninhabited asteroids for precious metals, ice or rare elements. It’s dangerous work and often frowned upon, but it’s more stable than salvage hunting and gives freedom station dwellers can’t afford. You travel for weeks at a time in your old but trusty light freighter Lochside to collect ore and redeploy mining drones. Yet, you have to be on the lookout for pirates, competitors, corrupt law enforcement and natural threats. Life in the belt is tough and hard work will only get you so far, to make ends meet you have to rely on luck and trust the people at your side.
Your captain has been incapacitated in an accident on a previous job and is recovering in the medbay. Despite his absence, you still have to visit at least one more dig-site just to break even, not to mention making any profit. As you are slowly decelerating towards asteroid RH-1201/3 at a comfortable 0.3G, your sensors pick up a derelict ship with no transponder data, tumbling dark less than a 100k clicks off “your” asteroid – far away from any known route or station. It could be the stroke of luck you desperately need, or an elaborate trap. Or perhaps something else, far worse…
