The Gates of Dáin’s Hall

Though over 350 years have passed since the War of Dwarves and Dragons, the defeat of the dwarves of Dáin’s Hall and the loss of their holdings in the far northern Ered Mithrin hangs heavy in the hearts of those dwarves whose ancestors were forced to flee south in shame to the Iron Hills and to Erebor, the Lonely Mountain.

It is said that the forges in Dain’s Hall worked day and night, only dying when every dwarf had armed himself for the final battle against the cold drake who slithered forth from the frosty wastes of the North at the head of an army of dragonkind. But armour and axes were not enough, and the dwarves of the line of Durin were forced to flee, abandoning their riches and armaments to the snows.

But this is a time of hope! Smaug lies dead beneath the Long Lake, the Lonely Mountain is reclaimed, and men and dwarves return to the lands, accompanied by elves of Mirkwood and hobbits from the far West.

The new King Under the Mountain calls for brave hands to travel north and retake Dáin’s Hall, to recover the riches that lie there, and to restore the honour of the Line of Durin.
