The Purple of Emperors

It was a sad day when Grandpa Joe passed away, and so the village mourned; but Michael came from the city soon after and moved into the old cottage – the thatched roof needed a bit of work doing to it but Michael seemed very capable and did a lot of odd jobs for people. He seemed nice enough although he was overerly thoughtful and quiet – Aunt Beatrice says that people who come back from the war are sometimes like that.

The war talk frightened Peter who was nearly eighteen and due to be drafted to the army – he ran away , hiding out out on the moors to avoid his fate.
Young Pauline used to take Peter food at his hiding place until she disappeared- now all her mum does is cry all the time. Some people think they ran away together but Aunt Bea thinks not and she is usually right. Most of the villagers avoid the moors – the soft marshy ground is treacherous, and strange monstrous things roam it at night, or so the elders say.

Yesterday Sally Owen was murdered , stabbed in her kitchen with a carving knife with strange symbols painted on the wall with her blood – the whole village is an uproar demanding that Constable Brown find the killer. A lot of fingers have been pointed at Michael as the newcomer in our midst – when they find out who it was there is going to be a hanging.

The village used to be such a happy place.

This is a complex scenario containing adult themes, supernatural horror and violence. Players will be expected to investigate on their own initiative and potentially work against each other. Recommend for mature and experienced gamers.
